Our Seminars
For Students Only These seminars are designed to get you started writing your essay and your activities list. Both are important components in admissions applications. Session 1 answers the question "What can I write about?" We'll show you what admissions committees look for in your application, why the personal statement or essay is so important, and reflect on your experiences these past four years. It's all about your essay content. Session 2 will give you tips on writing, how to deliver your message so that it is unique to you. We'll also talk about avoiding common errors that can take away from your story. Session 3 will review the purpose of the Student Activities List. We'll talk about focusing your list and highlight what speaks to college admissions committees. Each session can be taken on it's own or you can register for all three. | For Adults Supporting Students The application process is more complex than it used to be. Many colleges are using holistic review, that is, looking at the whole student. It's not enough to have a 4.0 GPA or great standardized test scores. The classes your students choose, how they spend their time in activities in and outside of the high school, and what they share about themselves in their essays are very important. Session 1 is an overview of the admissions process. We'll show you actual applications, what the admissions committee is looking for, and what goes into a successful essay and activities list. Session 2 will match what students will be experiencing in their Session 1 and 2. We'll share tips on how you can help your students get started on their essays, and how to help them reflect on what is unique to them. Proofreading tips and common errors to avoid will round out this session. If your student(s) register for the Students Only sessions, you'll all have the same helpful information |
